THE WEDDING

The Big Day will be on the same day as a very popular holiday in Mexico. On this day, expect to arrive to the venue from 4:30 - 5:00. Our ceremony will be short and sweet at 5:30, and dinner will be served after. We are doing a buffet style with tacos, and we will have vegetarian options as well. After nightfall we will be celebrating Day of the Dead with face paintings, music, and performances from loved ones. The party will last till 11:30, however, Mexico has a night life that you may want to enjoy on this special day.

Feel free to dress festive or smart casual, we want everyone to be comfortable. (Please refrain from wearing white still!)

TRANSPORTATION/HOTELS

Mexico City has a great public transportation system, including metro, buses, and taxis, however, we recommend using Uber for convenience and safety. We highly DO NOT recommend renting a car to drive, Mexico City is known for very aggressive driving and finding parking near the venue would be nearly impossible.

Please be careful walking around at night! Walk in groups and in well-lit areas at night, the inner areas of the city are very safe but tourist are a big target for theft still.

Guillermo and Sam will be staying in a 10 bedroom airbnb located in Polanco with their families.

We highly recommend staying in Airbnb as it is cost efficient, you can stay with multiple people if needed, and it is really easy if you stick to Airbnb's "Superhost." If you want help finding any Airbnbs, or even someone to room with, please feel free to reach out to us! We use Airbnb for every trip we have taken.

If you prefer hotels we recommend staying in Polanco, or Condesa. Here are a few hotels that are highly rated:

Hyatt Regency

JW Marriott

InterContinental Presidente

FlowSuites Polanco

Mexico City is very safe, but there are some areas that you should avoid.

1. Tepito

2. La Merced Market (at night)

3. Doctores

4. Iztapalapa

Do not take Ubers that ask you to cancel rides and pay in cash.

THINGS TO DO

We hope you adventure around while in Mexico City, here are some of our favorite things to do there.

Check out Mexico City's rooftop bars, there are so many.

Visit a gay club in Condesa/Roma. (some clubs are strictly gays only, lesbians only, or bear/leather bars.)

Take a boat ride in Xochimilco.

Visit the pyramids.

Visit Chapultepec Park, they have a zoo, carnival, and castles.

Visit a museum, Mexico City has the most in the world. (Our favorite is the Frida Kahlo Museo)

CULTURE TIPS

Do not drink the tap water!

If you order water from a restaurant they will bring you bottled water.

Pedestrians don't have the right-of-way, look both ways before you cross.

Do not touch Ofrendas (day of the dead offerings).

Tip your services at least 10%.

Don't take taxis from the street, they scam often.

If you are a queer couple, you can hold hands in Mexico City safely, but do beware of any other public displays of affection in non-tourist areas.

Do not flush your toilet paper! It will clog the pipes. We also recommend carrying toilet paper with you to places, many public restrooms cost and do not provide toilet paper.

If you have any questions or concerns about traveling or visiting Mexico City, please feel free to reach out to Gizmo or Sam!
